How to choose a packaging box that fits my product?

To be honest, among the plenty of inquiries we have received, 60% of customers are just starting up their business or just making a business start-up preparation. They are not sure about the packaging’s size, thickness, printing(effect), and this is what we can understand. So if you are planning to start your own business and do some study about packaging boxes, then this article can help you a lot. 

First of all, you have to know your product’s size clearly and the packaging size that probably fits your product. For example, if your product size is 5 x 5 x 5cm, then you can plus 0.5cm~1cm to its length, width and height, which means packaging box in the size of 5.5 x 5.5 x 5.5cm or 6 x 6 x 6cm may fit your product. If your product is irregular and you can’t tell the exact size of it, then you can send us product pics/real finished product to us, and we can help design the packaging for you!

Secondly, you have to know what material will be suitable to make your packaging, whether it’s PVC, PET, PP, APET, PETG, coated paper, white cardboard, or other materials? If you don’t have specified requirements like the material needs to be recyclable/renewable, cold-resistant/heat-resistant, ultraviolet-proof, slow aging speed, etc, then we will recommend to use PVC material. As it’s the cheapest plastic material of all. If you are in the food business, then using PET food grade material will be better. If you have specified requirements we have mentioned above, for example, you are making cake that has to be put into the refrigerator, then you should tell this to your supplier to prevent the finished packaging can’t meet your requirements. Other material you can check its attribute on the related website before you make a final decision. 

Regarding the material thickness, it’s something has to pay much attention too. Thickness is determined by the weight of the product: if your product is light, then you can use thin material like 0.25mm material, but if your product is heavy, it’s recommended to use more than 0.45mm products. The material thickness we can make is 0.2mm~0.9mm.  

Speaking to printing, when the plastic packaging compares to paper packaging, it can be done with many printing finish options as well, such as hot stamping/metallic printing, embossed/debossed effect, spot UV varnishing/coating, glossy/matte lamination, laser printing, CYMK full color printing, etc. You can consider whether special printing effect is needed or only ordinary printing would be fine according to the color match of your product. Like the packaging for cosmetic, most of them is luxury so customers will prefer to add hot stamping/metallic printing on the based of ordinary printing. If you don’t want printing, that’s fine, too, then you can make a clear packaging or a semi-transparent with color packaging.
